Kathy Lawrence writes: "As usual I couldn't put it down till it was finished or I fell asleep on it."

I am an avid mystery reader and a friend recommended you to read because I love the beach so much. I am thankful that she did. I have enjoyed both books tremendously and am looking forward to the next. Is it anytime soon? Thanks for the great books.

Kelly

I am a longtime OBX lover and looking forward to retiring on the Outer Banks in the next ten years. I am presently reading Death of a Mermaid and enjoying it a great deal. I am today ordering Callie and the Dealer and a Dog named Jake from amazon.com. Keep up the good work and thank you for the entertaining Callie McKinley series.

Just wanted you to know how much I have enjoyed your first two books, and am looking forward to more. Is there a third in the works? If so, when?  And will you be back in Manteo for a signing for the next one. Good luck in Florida (we'll miss you on the OBX) and congratulations on the new addition.

Dear Wendy,

I have just finished reading DEATH OF A MERMAID. One day at the beach I began reading and did not leave until I had finished it.
We are recent arrivals to North Carolina.  After reading your latest book my desire to visit the Outer Banks has greatly increased. Since our move here I have been trying to read books based in the area. Yours and those of Wanda Canada and Nan Graham have been at the top of the list.
Please keep the Callie stories coming and good luck to you in your new home and with your new baby.
Thanks for several hours of reading pleasure,
Sincerely,
pattie

Great Outer Banks book and more!
This is a wonderful book! Had been waiting for its release and it lived up to the wait. Everybody will like this book, from its Outer Banks commentary to the characters to the surprise ending. Glad I found wendyhowellmills.com for book signing schedule and more! Thanks Wendy for these great books and keep 'em coming!

Death of a Mermaid
I absolutely loved the book! It's even better than the first one. I couldn't put it down and didn't know who the bad guy was until the end. Wendy's writing is wonderful and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I'm ready to read her next one as soon as she writes it. Way to go Wendy!

With a busy school year I wasn't able to read your books until this past week. They are wonderful. I read CALLIE AND THE DEALER in about 3 days and after starting DEATH OF A MERMAID yesterday I am halfway through it. I can't wait to see what happens. I love reading about places that I have been and see on a daily basis. I get the feeling Sharkey's is based on Mulligan's Bar and Grill. I can't wait to read what you come up with next.

As a Chesapeake, VA transplant to the OBX , an ODU grad, and mystery story

lover, I certainly have enjoyed your books and hope there will be more! . I enjoyed the book, and am sad I have to return to work tomorrow and
will not have time to read until the next hurricane, nor'easter, or blizzard in the
OBX.

Wendy, I stopped to get gas and saw your book on the counter and bought it. It was Fantastic! I thoroughly enjoyed reading about places and names that took me back to the outerbanks. I especially enjoyed trying to figure out which of the regulars your characters were based on, some of them, seemed to stand out or it was quite a coincidence!!!!!! I see on your website that you have another book out, I look forward to reading it.

Scott

Just wanted to say I've just finished Death of a Mermaid--Loved it!
Liked it even better than the first one! Write faster...can't wait for the
next one (there will be a next one, won't there?!?!?!?)
Keep writing,
Elizabeth

Just finished Mermaid and loved it! Hope to permanently relocate to the Outer Banks in a few years (yeah, I know, oh great another one!) and your books do give an interesting insight...

Thanks, Vicki

Wendy, Thanks so much for writing CALLIE...I loved it and can't wait for your next book. Your book should really be in all the Outer Banks' gift shops, but I've seen it in only the Stop and Shop (and maybe one other). I would think visitors would want to pick up a copy on vacation if it were visible. Thanks so much for setting your story in my beloved outer banks. I'm down there often and like to imagine the real places you model your story after.(esp the karaoke part!) May you always enjoy living there. God bless your "second profession" as a writer.( For you and your readers) Thanks, Mopsi Pittman

Met you Sat am at the bookstore and purchased Callie & the dealer..................
Just wanted to let you know that in spite of the fact that I seldom read
fiction, especially murder or violence, I enjoyed your book... Your style seemed
to captivate me along with all the factual info concerning life on the outer banks...
Keep having fun with your work......
I am back in VA but returning to KDH the middle of the week.....
namaste,
jerry

We have a time share at Barrier Island Station and have the privilege of living at the Outer Banks for one week in June and one week in December. This past December, the week before Christmas, we saw you at your book signing in Outer Banks Books. I had my girls with me and they were eager to show me the books they wanted, so by the time I had a chance to meet you, you had left! The owner of the store spoke so highly of you, I felt I had to get your book. I picked up an autographed copy, but I am kicking myself for not having you personalize it! I will do that with your next book!

Callie & the dealer & a Dog Named Jake is an absolute delight to read! I loved every minute of it! I'm surprised that it is your first book! Do you have others you have written and just haven't published yet? If so, publish them!
I live in New Bern, NC (which is a wonderful little town) and would love for you to come for a book signing. We have Books-A-Million and Walden Books. Greenville is our closest Barnes&Noble, however. Perhaps, if your able to visit, New Bern may be the back drop for your next mystery!
Thanks once again for a very refreshing escape into a good mystery (that just happens to take place on the Outer Banks!)
Patrice

Hi, went to the Outer Banks for the first time in September. I live in Virginia, but I am originally from Pensacola beach, Florida so I thought nothing could top that. Well, I picked up your book and spent an awesome day on the beach in Kill devil Hills. Already booked for next year. Your book put me right in the Outer banks experience and I was so happy to be there. Thanks for a great week and I look forward to the next book. I live in Charlottesville, Virginia and look forward to your next book signing.

Take care,
Mrs. Joey

Hi Wendy,

I got an autographed copy of your book at the Outer Banks Beach Club's book
signing while I was on vacation there the last week of July. I'm so glad you
were there, otherwise I probably wouldn't have heard of you (since I'm not
local). I read your book after I returned home (I was already in the middle
of one at the beach) and I really enjoyed it. Our family has been visiting
the Outer Banks yearly (with very few exceptions) since 1978, and it has
always been my favorite beach. For me you really captured the essence of the
place. It is my goal to eventually own a home there (it may not happen til
I'm very old, but we all need a dream!). I also worked in a restaurant in
Myrtle Beach, S.C. for a year, so your descriptions in that regard (the
lifestyle, being weeded, impending hurricane excitement, etc) were very
relevant to me as well.

In short, I thoroughly enjoyed your book and primarily got on the site to
find out more about your sequel (at the signing you mentioned that there
would be a sequel arriving next spring). If you could add me to your mailing
(or e-mail) list, I would appreciate any advanced notice of when your
upcoming books are going to be available. Good luck - I'll do my part to
help spread the word. (I am the chairman of a local bookclub/discussion
group, and although we don't read mysteries as a group, several of us read
them on the side!)
Sincerely,
Dawn

I'm vacationing this week at the Outer Banks and I picked up your book from
the bookstore that's near the lighthouse at the north end of the island.
(They gave you a nice display in the store! Endcaps are valuable!)

Although I had to put the book down several times because of other vacation
obligations, I always came back to it. Finally, I finished it this morning
and it was worth it!
Regards,
Jill

My friend Sue and I read your book on the beach the day after we bought them from you--we couldn't stop reading for any reason! Luckily, we didn't burn too badly. We felt badly that we weren't able to run into you again at the restaurant to tell you how much we enjoyed reading your book! I so very rarely read for fun, and it was worth every minute! The complexity of the details and events never ceased to amaze me. Best of luck to you and your endeavors!

Hi! I am Denise Trionfero and I live in Baldwinsville, NY. I was in Nags Head
when your review hit the local paper there and thus I began my hunt!!! I went
to the small bookstore there and he had just sold his last copy the night
before. I went up and down the Banks looking for it and noone had it. Once we
returned to New York I ordered it from Amazon.com and I had to write! I just
finished it and sooooo enjoyed it!!! This was our first year to vacation at
the Outer Banks. We went the second week of June so we preceeded the rush but loved it so that we will return next year during the same week!! I was
anxious to get a book on the area but looked forward to reading your book.
You didn't let me down!!! PLEASE put me on your mailing list. I will be eager
to read your next one!!! Congratulations!!! It was great!!! Thanks for an
exciting read!!!! (and also for your personal recommendations of other good
books! )
Sincerely,
Denise

Ms. Mills,
Picked up your book in Nags Head this weekend. I
enjoyed it very much.  I don't think you'll be working
as a restaurant much longer.
Will you be in Greenville, NC anytime soon? I'd like
to get your autograph. It will be nice to have a
signed first edition when you are big and famous.
Best of luck to you, I look forward to reading all
your book.
Marilyn

Wendy,
I just finished reading your book Callie &the dealer & a Dog Named Jake, and I could not put it down. I'm not especially a fan of mystery, however, I also live on the Outer Banks, Kill Devil Hills, and had read about your book in the VA Pilot. I ordered it right away, and I am glad I did. It was interesting reading a book written from a local's perspective. I kept reading excerpts to my husband as we agreed you caught the essence of this region. I loved your vivid descriptions and especially your unique similes. I am a fourth grade writing teacher at Griggs Elementary in Currituck County, and it would be such an honor if you could work into your busy schedule a visit to our fourth grade classes. I am not a writer, but I am greatly impressed by good writing and thoroughly enjoy teaching writing. I am open to any suggestions you may have to offer. If you could come visit in the fall and maybe share some writing tips, I believe it would inspire our students in their writing. I've already shared your book with friends and appreciate your time. I can't wait for your next book!
Judy

Hi Wendy,

Well I just got through reading a good book by a new author. I really liked
it and hope to read another one soon.
I could really follow the characters through the hotel and the roads, your
descriptions were very good. Sometimes I get lost in the authors directions,
don't you. I really enjoyed it and I could not figure out "who done it".
Keep up the good work.
A loyal fan,
Nedra

I met you at your Nags Head book signing. I was with my wife and we came back in quickly to take a picture with you. It was her idea to get the book (I don't really read much fiction), but I decided to read it first. To my surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed your book! I will recommend it to family and friends.
Thanks,
Kenny

Wendy,

I just finished reading your book and really enjoyed it!
Good luck with the sales of your FIRST book - I look forward to reading more of your work.
Cindy
